Les Paul Project

I haven't quite got this regular update thing down yet have I? Anyway this blog seems to be picking up a teeny tiny bit of steam, what I'm about to say next may seem minor to everyone but for me this is massive. On the 15th of Feb this blog had 16 views on one day:)the most its ever had in a day. Of course not everything is dandy on the 17th of Jan this page ahd 1 view. So I guess you could say its been a mixed month. But now onto the main event the 'les Paul project'. I picked this up from my freind Ben on the first day of the summer holidays for 2£ in less then amazing condition.

After a bit of blood (I still have a scar from where a loose fret cut my arm) and hours of ironing the guitar (Using the steams etting to weaken the fretboard glue thus making it easier to pull off) I was left with this.

After this I sanded down the body and cut down the remainder of the neck. What now though? well I'm gunna route the neck pocket to transfrom this guitar into a bolt on neck guitar and do a 'swirl' finish (Google 'swirl guitars'). This is the les Paul as it looks now. So long and goodnight.

Projects!

Happy new year even if it is late, anyways heres to hoping this is a good year for this blog and as I promised in the last post here are some projects I'm working on.
Bits and Bobs: This is just a picture of some random bits of guitars I have lying around. The telecaster body was bought as part of a tech project but I do not need it now so I'm thinking about respraying surf green and doing a 50's theme. well thats just an idea I'll post some blogs about it when I get my final idea.
The Tabasco Guitar: I picked up this guitar from the dump( I know classy) and deceided to do something a bit different so I thought it could become a tabasco bottle! This guitar is being hand-painted which is painstaking to say the least. If I did another one of these i'd spray it for sure. EVH full size Guitar: well lol i've got a lot of work to do. EVH 3/4 Guitar: This is my first ever attempt at refinishing a guitar. It took a while to finish this guitar, in fact it took me two hours just to mask up the guitar, but i was happy with the outcome of the guitar in the end.

Next post: I will be showing you the last of my projects as it is a fairly tough project I thought it deserved its own post.

Guitars That I Own (But Didn't Make)

Ok, so I thoguht I'd show you guitars that I've amassed over the years. None of them are expensive guitars, in fact I got two of them for free. Anyways enjoy!

BC Rich - Warlock
An obscenely metal guitar haha, nahh this is a great guitar (made greater by the fact I picked it up for free) that plays well and sounds alright. I think people tend to shy away from BC Rich because they are associated so heavily with the metal genre however, I don't see why this is because the warlock hardly conforms as a guitar so why should it have to conform to one genre of music? Just for the record I do not play metal music much at all but I still use this as my main guitar.

Epiphone - Les Paul Junior
The latest in the collection. I picked up this guitar for just $101.75 (£60.72!) at Guitar center in Hollywood. Of course because it was so cheap I wasn't expecting much from this guitar but it really outshone my expectations I really like this guitar especially how dark the rosewood fretboard is and im sure if I was to modify it with a better humbucker it would sound much better. Well worth the small sum I paid for it and the anxiety that it caused from flying it all the way home(England)

Squier - Stratocaster (Affinity Series)
My first Electric, it came with a white pickguard on black paintjob and after 4 years I just couldn't stand the blandness anymore so i did a bit of aesthetic customization. What else can I say about this guitar?, I love it.

Squier - Frank Bello Signiture Jazz Bass
The first bass I aucutally owned, the bass i learnt on was this awful Ibanez. I remember when I first picked up and played this bass I was just amazed the jazz bass neck was so much nicer then the neck on the ibanez I had been palying. The pickup configuration on this bass (P + J bass pickups) is amazing and sound brilliant with a great growl. However, the main reason I picked this guitar was because when I was picking a bass I didn't just want another boring what and black p bass I wanted something different and boy is this bass out there. I auctually think it looks cooler then frank bellos fender signiture bass.

Tatra - Classic Aucoustic (classical guitar)
Last but not least, my first ever guitar given to me by my grandma. I know very little about this guitar or tatra guitars in fact, having said that over the lat year an article about the company the company appeared on wikipedia. These guitars were manufactured in the late 60's to early 70's in the countary that is no more, Czechoslovakia. These guitars where Budget guitars back in the day (notice a theme?) and really aren't worth much much now but the sentimental value is pricless.

Next Post: Up and coming projects, Including a 3/4 size EVH replica.

The Blue Bass

Here is a picture of the Blue Bass from a bout 5-6 months ago. I have made changes now like adding chrome hardware and getting a glossy pickguard.
That strange blur on the headstock is where the old logo used to be.
